Transforming imagination - the role of parks in regional sustainable development processes

The presentation will focus on the potential of parks to provide new perspectives for scenario-imagination in the context of regional sustainable development debates. Based on examples taken from an ongoing research project in Switzerland (funded by Swiss national academy of sciences) it will be discussed which aesthetic strategies might be initiated by the parks in order to transform traditional representations of nature, wilderness, environment, landscape etc. and to stimulate by this means an innovative conceptual work with regard to future scenarios in regional sustainable development.
