Can collaborative governance approaches enhance the spatio-temporal fit between agricultural related ecosystem services?

Provisioning services show spatial and temporal lags between supply and demand, which makes assessments challenging. We identify lags in supply and use of provisioning services delivered by agriculture by using examples from three study regions (protected areas in The Netherlands, Austria and Germany) to deal with these lags. We identify specific regional approaches to incorporate the lags into ecosystem service typologies. The collaborative approaches can help to improve value chains allowing production and further processing in the region and to harmonize and focus the marketing strategy.
