Winners and losers of climate change in the Central Alps

Lena Nicklas, University of Innsbruck (AT)

Climate warming is an essential driver for the ongoing diversity changes in high altitudes. Within the GLORIA-project (Global Observation Research Initiative in Alpine Environment) target regions, four summits from the treeline ecotone to the nival zone, are monitored every 5-10 years. The GLORIA site IT_TEX (Nature Park Texelgruppe) was established in 2003. After 14 years, a second resurvey will be made to analyse if the responses of plant species to climate change depend on elevation, compass direction, community structure, species pool and functional traits.
