Oliver Stöhr, REVITAL Integrative Naturraumplanung GmbH, Nussdorf-Debant (AT)

A survey of the fern-related plants (Pteridophyta) was carried out in 2016 in a field of 102 hectares of the Krimml Waterfalls. 36 taxa of vascular spore plants plus five hybrids were detected. Besides of the frequent occurence of rare species, such as Polystichum braunii and Dryopteris remota, the detection of Dryopteris x sarvelae and D. lacunosa are most worth mentioning. It can be concluded that the area of the Krimml Waterfalls is classified as very significant for the pteridophyte flora. Despite the high visitor volume the area is in good condition with regard to the fern flora.
