Ecosystem Services in NATURA 2000 areas of Crete: Information and communication campaign for the ecological, social and economic values of ecosystem services

The "LIFE Natura2000ValueCreteā€¯ (LIFE13INF/GR/000188) environmental awareness project is connected to two major sectors of the islands economy and EU perspectives, namely the importance and capabilities originated from rural development and farming in semi-natural habitats and the promotion of outdoor recreation in NATURA 2000 sites. The environmental communication campaign is addressed to farmers, stockbreeders, fishermen, hunters and professionals involved in tourism, local and regional authorities, specialized scientists such as architects and engineers in landscape planning, journalists, teachers, students, undergraduates of University of Crete and Technical University of Crete, as well as the general public in Crete. The main actions of the information and communication campaign, as well as results of the progress of the LIFE Natura 2000 Value Crete project will be briefly presented.
