The Danube River is the second largest in Europe and the most international river of the world, even so before flowing into the Black Sea it creates a delta covering 5,165 km², one of the best preserved in the world. Bio-physical structure of Danube Delta natural capital consist of 24 different ecosystem types supporting the third richest biodiversity area of the world after the Australian Coral Reef and the Galapagos. We matched the ecosystems types to their potential services then ranked them with local, regional and national stakeholders using fuzzy cognitive mapping and participatory GIS.
